Where does the name "Bleu Tomato" come from? It is an often asked question. It is a concept of more than 20 years! It just took this long to make it happen. I had a little dream of owning a wine bistro after a short residence in Europe in 1985. I was very inspired by the quaint coffee shops and intimate wine bistros and discovering all the wonderful diverse food that was available everywhere. This led me to pursue the Culinary School at Johnson County Community College, while working in a variety of restaurants in Kansas City.

In 2004, I became a personal chef and delivered dinners to people who became some very loyal customers. I loved every bit of what I was doing, and put all my heart into every meal. An opportunity arose for me in DeSoto to open a restaurant and I have watched it snowball from a concept of a catering kitchen to a sit down restaurant.

From the beginning, I knew I wanted rotational local artists displaying in the store. I was given that opportunity when I was well into my art and loved the exposure. I believe bringing in new artists each month adds a different atmosphere to the dining experience. So here I have a food and art element combined that created "Bleu Tomato" under one roof!

Bleu Tomato is a fast growing and ever changing establishment. I am proud to know that people leave happy when they come to my restaurant. It's continuing to grow thanks to all who support me. Hope to see you soon.
